Despite of being eclipsed by the splendor of Taj Mahal in Agra, Agra Fort also known as Red Fort offers more for those who are looking beyond love. For its architectural greatness and mammoth structure, Agra Fort is been declared as a World Heritage Site. There are two entrance to Agra Fort, though one of them, Delhi gate is now closed. Agra Fort is within a radius of 3 km and located on the bank of Yamuna. It is one of the splendid architectural wonder of the Mughal era. It is the longest fort in India surrounded by a huge 70 feet high wall. Prime attractions of the fort are beautiful Pearl Mosque, and different palaces assigned for different use. Such as Jahangiri Mahal, Diwan –i-Khas (where emperor held meetings with dignitaries) and Diwan-e-Aam (Where held audience with common people). Also fort houses a beautiful Nagina Masjid, which was actually a seraglio built by emperor Shah Jahan. Below it Meena Bazaar where ladies shopped trinkets, finery and jewelaries all without coming out from their ‘purdah’(veil). Also sheesh mahal is worth a see, which was made up of mirrored walls, used by the women for bathing as it reflected the lamplight lined up in front of it. Also one cannot miss the two- storied octagonal tower called Musamman Burj, from wher Shah Jahan last saw its beloved Taj Mahal for the last time before dying.

Who Designed It ?
Mughal emperor Akbar credited for magnificent Agra Fort in 1565, and his grandson Shah Jahan further embellished it with white marbles. Fort was captured by British during the first war of independence and in the present time safe hands with the Indian Army and open for tourists.
Taj Mahal
One cannot miss Taj mahal when in Agra. Sheer poetry in marble, this monument of love is one the seven wonders of the world. India’s pride is one of the most visited destination in the world.
Fatehpur Sikri
Located in the political capital of Mughals, Fatehpur Sikri was built by imperial emperor Akbar. It architecture and magnificent structure has made it a World Heritage Site.
Buland Darwaza
It is a mammoth gateway located near Agra built by Mughal emperor Akbar in 1573. The huge arched gateway is made up of red sandstone spotted with white marbles. Pillars and chattris have an inscriptions from Quran. Undoubtedly, Buland Darwaza is an impressive structure.

Getting There
As Agra is a famous city because of majestic Taj Mahal, you can get regular flights from New Delhi airport. Also Agra is well connected with road network. Traveling from bus or car will take about 5-6 hours.
By Air : One can easily reach Delhi by Air route, as Delhi is connected to all major cities of India and World.
By Rail : Delhi is well connected to all the parts of India by the railways tracks. One can easily reach from any part of India by railways.
By Road : The people staying near to Delhi can easily reach Delhi by the road, as Delhi has well-defined roads.
