Rome's best bits
You could easily spend a week in Rome and you'd only have skimmed the surface. There are just so many top attractions in Rome and almost every corner you turn you'll find something to photograph.
Top attractions to visit include the world renowned Colosseum, the Pantheon and the Roman Forum. The Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps at Piazza di Spagna are also a must see when in Rome. Ramble over to the bustling Trastevere with narrow cobbled streets or take the metro down to Basilica di San Giovanni.
And of course no visit to Rome would be complete without a trip to the top attractions of the Vatican city to explore St.Peter's Basilica, St. Peter's Square, the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums.
A dinner cruise on the River Tiber comes highly recommended or take a tour of the city by night and see it all lit up. Go to St.Peter's Square and experience an audience with the Pope - this usually takes place on Wednesday's at 11am. If you're here during the hot summer months you can take a short train ride out to Ostia beach which is just about 24km from the city centre.
Rome is full of interesting squares for you to meet friends in or just to people watch; these include Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Navonna, and Piazza della Republica.
Enjoy 360-degree views of Rome from Il Vittoriano or go back in time with a visit to Circus Maximus and The Domus Aurea.
Other top attractions to be seen in Rome include the Castel Sant Angelo, Villa Borghese, the Theatre of Marcellus and the Basilica de Santa Maria Maggiore.
If you hire a car you can take day trips to Naples, Florence and Pompeii.
